ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Artist Statement
Everyone in this world is a unique version of our species. We are sculpted from the clay of our environment, our thoughts and our actions, and the results vary for every single person on earth. There are however, certain aspects of life that are universal. We all laugh and cry. We all feel frustrated at times, euphoric at others, and fear accompanies anyone that journeys outside their comfort zone.
Woven throughout my art are references to the universal human experiences we all share as a small group in this giant universe. Thematically and visually I lean toward opposing elements. Humor meets tension when nails try to turn the table on a hammer, a robot might be pondering life and existence, or optimistic scenes of life and exploration are created using cold inanimate subjects. This body of work comes at you from many different angles, but the common theme is celebrating the similarities within all of us, regardless of the vast spectrum of lifestyles, environments and beliefs.
